Srijana is fourteen years old and lives with her father and younger sister. Her mother drowned when a dam burst while she was working in the fields. When asked about her mother she replies with tear-filled eyes, "Ever since mommy died, nothing is well at home. I have to miss many days of school so that I can work in the fields with my dad. Otherwise we won't have enough to eat at home."

Srijana's younger sister is ten years old. Although Srijana misses school, she makes sure that her sister attends. She is happy seeing her younger sister receive an education. She wishes, however, that she will receive support so she can attend school with her sister as well.
